Another lame horror movie based on a video game, starring Christian Slater (TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE) and Stephen Dorff (THE GATE). Tara Reid (JOSIE & THE PUSSYCATS) is horribly miscast as a bookish anthropologist who is also the love interest of Slater's character. The story involves a group of orphans who were used in a diabolical experiment twenty-years ago, who are now turning into zombie like creatures. It turns out Carnby (Slater) was one of these children but the parasite inside him is dead so he hasn't transformed. An evil guy wants to open up a gateway and let through these Cthulhu-esque creatures and it's up to the heroes to stop him. There's lots of wooden dialogue, video game violence and computer animation--and a story we've seen way too many times before. This is worse than director UWE BOLLE'S previous misadventure, HOUSE OF THE DEAD, if you can believe that.
