The movie starts with safecracker Joey Faust breaking out of jail with the help of a woman, Laura Matson. She takes him to a secluded farmhouse where he meets Major Paul Krenner, who arranged for the breakout. Krenner wants Joey to steal for him but Joey thinks that's ridiculous since his face will be plastered all over the place. Krenner introduces him to Dr. Ulof, who he keeps in the house, a German inventor who has come up with an invisibility ray. Ulof demonstrates this on a guinea pig and Joey is impressed. He later talks to Ulof alone and finds out that Kenner is making him do all of this or else he'll kill his daughter, who is kept prisoner in another room.
Joey agrees to get turned invisible, though there's a fatal side-effect to the invisibility treatments, something Kenner didn't tell him about.
In the end he gets his revenge on Kenner and also manages to redeem himself.
This is a weird little film-noir with sci-fi overtones.
