In this goofy mad scientist movie Bela Lugosi has inadvertently transformed himself into an ape-man. He has a weird beard encircling his face and walks hunched over. He can also make ape-noises. He tries to convince a colleague to help him become fully human again-but the only way to do this is to take the spinal fluid from a live human, which he says will kill the donor. Maybe in the 1950's a spinal tap would kill someone-I've had two and it never killed me.When we first see Lugosi he's sleeping in a cage with a gorilla. Later, he takes his gorilla companion and starts killing people. As in THE APE, rather than beat his arms down on someone, this gorilla strangles people. There's also a side story about a newspaper reporter and his new woman partner, which is very 1940'ish and does little to liven the plot.
