This is the follow-up series to the two seasons of LIFE ON MARS.
In the present a police detective, Alex Drake, is shot and wakes up to find herself in 1981, surrounded by all the characters Sam Tyler had written about in his journa . She believes she's fighting for her life after being shot in the head by a crazed criminal. So she treats her experiences in 1981 as if it's all a battle in her mind and that if she's fighting for her life in this past world she's fighting to stay alive in the present. Not only does she have to contend with DCI Gene Hunt, who is now working in London with policemen Ray Carling and Chris Skelton, but she has to resolve a conflict with her mother, who is still alive and is slated to die in a car bombing within the month. Can she change history and prevent her parents from dying? That is the big question.
This show will be very familiar to fans of LIFE ON MARS yet it's different enough to be interesting and it's unpredictable. And there's lots of Roxy Music songs.
