Batman vs. Dracula (2006)
Movie Review by The Gravedigger

Batman vs. Dracula (2006) This is a feature-length animated movie taken from the Saturday morning show, THE BATMAN (2004), which features a younger Bruce Wayne than portrayed in his previous animated incarnation. Here, the Joker and the Penguin escape from Arkham Asylum, each with the intention of finding a hidden stash of money belonging to another inmate. As the Penguin searches an old graveyard he accidently cuts himself and bleeds on an old, shackled skeleton. This turns out to be the remains of Dracula-and the corpse quickly reanimates, though it takes a while for him to regain his human appearance. From that point on the Penguin becomes his "Renfield". Later, the Joker gets bitten and is infected with the vampire virus.

Soon, dozens of people are transformed into the undead creatures. Worse, Dracula has his sights on reporter Vicky Vale, the very woman Bruce Wayne is interested in. He must save her before Dracula can drain her soul and replace it with the spirit of his lost love.

I thought it was cool how Drac is resurrected, sort of like in the old Hammer movies with a drop of blood falling on his corpse-and the various stages the vampire goes through, as well as how they see a new victim-they see just the cardiovascular system, pumping blood through the body. The thing I thought lame is that no one is ever killed---all the vampire victims return to being normal humans after Bruce Wayne finds a cure for the blood virus that causes vampirism. Also, I thought a vampiric Joker would be more of a danger.

This Bats adventure is definitely for the younger crowd.
