This movie goes by a lot of names : Twitch of the Death Nerve, Carnage, Ecology of a Crime, & Bloodbath. Whichever name, it doesn't matter, this movie crushes forward to introduce us to the modern slasher film. Another of those films that was certainly influential and classic. Mario Bava brings forth the gore, the plot, and one of the coolest endings ever in his film. A must see movie if you like slasher films, F13, Halloween, and horror in general. This guy was responsible for so many great movies to come out of Italy, you have to give him credit. Noone can deny the influence on movies like Friday the 13th 1 & 2 (hell, some of the murders in it are identical). Not the plots, but the style and the events are similar. Kinda of foreshadows what would come a few years later with films like Black Christmas, Halloween, and F13 (easily the most imitated of the 3). This movie is brutal and bloody from the 1st murder to the twisted end. It does retain that Bava style throughout, but seems a bit wilder than his other movies to me. Without this movie, would slasher films have evolved forward to the heights of the late 70's early 80's? I doubt it. But you never know. Thankfully, we don't have to ask, cause A Bay of Blood did happen in all it's glory! Thanks Mario!
