For me, this was the movie of the week for April 8, 2002. I vaguely remember seeing this movie years ago. I rented it and enjoyed it, but as the years flew by I never could remember the name of this thing. Through sheer blind luck, I again rented this not knowing what movie it was and 15 minutes in it all came back to me. Wow, if you like movies with that special feel of redneck menace, then this is for you! Two couples head to the Everglades to spend some vacation time at a cabin owned by one of the guys. The dialog on the way to the cabin is a riot. I mean who goes to the swamp cabin for a vacation? ' I think good things are waiting for us in the Everglades', he announces. Yeah, snakes, alligators, and leeches all awaited ya pal. Of course, they can't even find the place 'cause it's been years since anyone's been there. The couples stop at a very rundown gas station and ask for help, but get the cold shoulder from the local doomsayer. He warns them to leave, to stay away from the cabin 'cause it's in 'Bloodstalker' country' and after meeting a few more of his friends, it's time to haul ass. At this point in the movie, you can pretty much assume what will happen toward the end. Predictable as it may be, it all works perfectly. The tension mounts and in the end the blood flows like a dream come true. The Bloodstalkers stay just out of sight until the final attack. We get just enough glimpses and hints as to what is out there scaring the shit out of our happy campers. I never did see any ice for that case of Pabst Blue Ribbon they brought along either. I guess that's why they had to be killed. Maybe the 'stalkers were damn thirsty and I can't say I blame anyone or anything for stealing a case of Pabst Blue Ribbon. This films works well do to the atmosphere, the campiness, and the gore. A nice happy ending shows how man truly helps his fellow man. If you like Bigfoot films, silly backwoods fun, or need to see an ax buried in someone's chest, then Blood Stalkers is a must see. Grab yourself a Pabst a settle in for some fun.
