This is loosely tied to the other giant snake movies that have premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel. David Hewlett (PIN, CUBE) is a scientist who has grown a giant ruby boa in order to extract mass quantities of anti-venom. He's approached by the government when it's reported that another giant snake, a Python from Asia, has been accidently released near Philadelphia. The reasoning is that the Boa will be able to hone in on the Python and lead to its capture. The Boa is outfitted with this camera and tracking device that's attached to its head so that the scientists are able to basically see what it sees. The man responsible for the python is this rich sportsmen type guy who has organized a hunt. Rather than cancel the game when the snake gets loose he simply changes the location of the hunt. Of course, all of these hunters get killed by this hundred foot long snake. The battle between the two snakes is rather anti-climatic as the python is beheaded by a passing subway train and the other snake is electrocuted by the scientists. But the thing that drives me a bit nuts about these snake movies is that they look like cartoons with the computer animation. It's simply not convincing and takes you out of the movie. I honestly fell asleep in the middle of the movie. What's next--SPIDERS vs. SHARKS???
