This disappointing of tale of fairy-tale mish-mash is director Terry Gilliam's worst movie, have none of the entertainment of his previous fantasies (BARON MUNCHAUSEN, TIME BANDITS, etc). Matt Damon and Heath Ledger portray the brothers, who fake their exploits of battling witches and monsters in order to exploit the small towns they visit. They're caught by the French-and are forced to investigate a town where these supernatural things are actually happening, much to the Brothers' dismay. There are lots of special effects, one-liners that are utterly flat, and zero characterization. It is indeed a grim thing to watch.
