This is a new adaptation of the Stephen King short story, directed by Donald Borchers, who produced the 1984 movie with Peter Horton and Linda Hamilton. He should have left well enough alone.
This movie begins in 1963, with a child in a cornfield in Nebraska preaching to a bunch of other children, saying that adults are evil and that they should all worship "He who walks behind the rows". Then the film cuts to twelve-years later, with an interracial couple arguing in their car. This is Burt (David Anders) and Vicki (Kandyse McClure). A boy runs out in the road in front of them and they hit him. The wife becomes even more of a shrill nag and starts yelling at her husband. He notices, though, that the kid's throat has been cut, so that if he hadn't hit him he'd be dead anyways.Curious about this, he follows the kid's blood trail into the cornfield and finds a suitcase. There's also another kid who remains unseen, who almost attacks him before he goes back to his wife.
They soon come to the town of Gatlin and find it abandoned and deserted looking. He goes into one of the buildings and she stays in the car. Thankfully, they kill her because she was really getting on my nerves. Then he has to endure the rest of the movie until his unpleasant demise.
Yes, this movie is far more faithful to the Stephen King story but this does not make for a pleasant or entertaining viewing experience. The characters are so unlikable you want to turn the television off after ten minutes. Definitely NOT recommended. If you want to watch kids killing people watch THE CHILDREN (2009).
