Lucio Fulci is a world renown director with legion of fans and devoters to his work. City of the Living Dead brings me to ask the question, 'why?'The film starts with a priest hanging himself. This act opens a gate to hell and unleashes zombies onto an unsuspecting town.People are being killed accidentally and a few days later are reported as being out and about town killing other living people. The films protagonists, Peter and Mary, investigate these strange occurances and delve into the world of zombies and curses. This film is an exorcise in stamina and ability to suffer through long, boring films. The director's attempt at building suspense and anticipation fall flat and are almost laughable at times. This reviewer places Fulci at the bottom of his list of favorite directors. He makes Uwe Boll look like Orson welles.Avoid this film at all costs. If you are one of the few that do enjoy Fulci's work I'd like to know why.
