Andy Koontz's artsy, black and white take on the serial killer genre is simply brilliant. At first I thought this was going to be another 'homage' to HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER. And while we have to endure the kidnapping of a young girl and the mutterings of the insane killer (portrayed by Koontz), which we've all seen before countless times in horror movies, the film then veers off into an entirely different direction. The serial killer picks a man, unrelated to the woman, and gives him all the information in order to save her. The killer gives him seven days before he'll kill her. But the man totally freaks out and doesn't know what to do, so the serial killer has to keep on calling him, prodding him, basically turning this wimpy guy into a hero of sorts. That is, if he manages to find the poor tortured girl in time...Although the black and white effect and the 'Film' strobe and fake scratches were a bit irritating at times the story overcame this. It also should've been made into a 75 minute feature, rather than the long 60 minute short. But that's just my gripe. Check out www.horroronfilm.com for more info on this movie.
