This speculative movie about the first man landing on the moon features James Caan as the determined astronaut and Robert Duvall as his trainer. When it's learned that the Russians have sent a rocket with three astronauts the United States speeds up its program, called 'Pilgrim'. According to the plan a lone man will be launched to the moon-and then will search for a lifepod that's already been sent there. Once seeing its red beacon he'll land and be able to spend as long as several months there, until the next exploration crew arrives. There are some tense moments when there are some technical difficulties and when the astronaut decides to land his module, even though he hasn't seen the lifepod. He wanders about, with only two hours of oxygen left and finds the Russian crew crashlanded and dead. Will he make it?Directed by Robert Altman.
