An army created virus is unleashed, by accident, upon a small Pennsylvania town, either killing the victims or making them hopelessly insane. The entire town is cordoned off by the military, yet one man and a group of his friends try to break through. One by one they all become infected, except for him, as he might have an immunity. Back at the military outpost a scientist desperately tries to discover an antidote as even the soldiers start becoming infected. This is not Romero's best. It's sort of like a zombie movie and the film has a downbeat ending like NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, though not that movie's suspense. You'll also see some familiar faces from a few other of the director's films.
