Claire, accompanied by her uptight boyfriend, go to the Irish countryside to visit her family. This is her father, younger sister and grandmother. The grandmother is at the verge of death and says that a woman is coming to get her--and warns Claire not to do anything when this happens. This woman is the Banshee, which comes for the newly dead souls. But when this screaming woman comes Claire interrupts and manages to injure the creature by pushing it off a balcony onto a fence-spike. This not only pisses it off--it causes all the buried dead in the area to animate as these weird flying skeletons. Her boyfriend is killed and her family put in jeopardy.
I found this an effective, well-done horror yarn, though it has a little too much unconvincing CGI effects. I've been hearing a comparison to the EVIL DEAD movies and it doesn't even compare to those. Still, DAMNED BY DAWN is worth checking out.
