This movie by Marc Trottier was formerly released as DARKNESS in 2002, though now the two long shorts are combined as one single movie, which makes it more cohesive. As I had said in my previous review, this is one of the better "home grown" independent horror movies I've seen this past decade. It may not have Hollywood production values but it does have a solid story and cast, including Trottier himself, who is one of the characters.
It is a 'Slasher', SCREAM-inspired tale of a group of guys being attacked by an insane killer-who really turns out to be a guy escaped from the local mental institution. Cody ends up killing him at the end of the first movie, looking very much the insane killer himself. Then the story continues with him recuperating and is befriended by the brother from the killer in the first movie. The question is, does the insanity run in the family?
If you're a fan of indy horror then there's no reason to wait for DARKNESS WAITS
