A group of deep sea workers are setting up missiles deep on the ocean floor--and the construction crew breaks into an underground cavern, which releases a creature that was living within. The majority of the movie focuses on a couple--McBridge (Greg Evigan) and Joyce (Nancy Everhard). Of the three deep sea/sea monster movies that came out in the late 80's (the first two being THE ABYSS and LEVIATHAN), this has the least production value. But that doesn't mean it isn't entertaining. There's a great giant crab-like monster (animatronic, not CGI!), an unlikely heroine in the form of Cindy Picket and a villain, portrayed by Miguel Ferrer (ROBOCOP). Recommended.
