Girls gone wild... cave style. To me, this was the best horror film of '06. Hot chicks, tons of blood and gore, funky looking monsters, nice little twist of a subplot, and all around creepy atmosphere make The Descent work on every imaginable level... except noone got naked. Oh well, life goes on. If you're claustrophobic, stay away from this one, the underground scenes made me wince. A friend I watched it with said she felt like hyper ventilating a few times, hahahaha! I love a complex looking film that actually has a simple story. Hot adventurer type women go on some little getaway, get trapped, meet some cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers, get gnawed on, fight amongst themselves, and die. Of course, it's all done with style and creepiness, gore and substance. Much better than The Cave, some truly gruesome shit happens in here kiddies, so don't worry about it being a chick flick. Hell, it's the only chick flick I wanna see again and again! Neil Marshall has made a classic here in my book. The cute accents helped, so did the compound fracture scene. My trip to Luray Caverns near home is on hold for a few years, maybe forever. Like Chris Rock said in CB40, "I ain't going down there".
