A covert team of American Soldiers is dispatched to a secret archeological dig in the Middle East. Along with them is a priest (Henry Rollins) and two women, Doc (Taryn Manning) and Elissa (Valerie Cruz of DRESDEN FILES). The leader of the team is Mack (Cuba Gooding Jr) and he keeps on having flashbacks to a prior conflict in which his partner was killed. Once down below they find a half dead priest and another guy, Professor Duncan (Bill Moseley of TEXAS CHAINSAW 2), who is possessed by a demonic entity. He's extremely creepy and keeps on talking, even when they put a dozen bullets in him. This place turns out to be where one of the Fallen Angels is imprisoned on the Earth and it look sort of like an alien.
This movie has a good cast but the story feels way too much like John Carpenter's PRINCE OF DARKNESS--and that movie is far better.
