A High school janitor Don McKay (Thomas Haden Church) gets a letter from his high school girlfriend Sunny (Elisabeth Shue), who still lives in the same town. He goes to visit her and we find out she's dying of some mysterious disease. She tells him that she wants to spend the rest of her short life with him. He confesses that he's always thought about her the past 25 years. He just seems to go along with this, though it's all a bit surreal and you can't help but wonder just why he's agreeing to all of this
Then, one day, her doctor drops by and tries to strangle him. He defends himself but ends up killing the crazy doctor--and buries his body in the nearby woods. All this happens while Sunny and her caretaker are out doing errands. But he gets stung by a bee and has an allergic reaction. When he wakes up in the hospital she asks him to marry him--and also tells him she spoke with that doctor. He's still alive? It's a very surreal movie where things aren't really what they seem, which is all ultimately explained at the end. The movie will definitely keep you guessing as to what's going on.
