Dr. Horror's Erotic House of Idiots (2003)
Movie Review by The Gravedigger

Dr. Horror's Erotic House of Idiots (2003) Paul Scrabo's directorial premiere is a clever, hilarious homage to horror hosts, B Movies and the genre at large. The movie starts off with a commercial for the services of a sex therapist, DR HORACE. He runs a lakeside retreat where he does his work, curing those who have some sort of sexual dysfunction. Then we go to that lakeside cottage, where Conrad Brooks is the groundskeeper while Dr. Horace is out of town. Michael R. Thomas (alumn of a lot of E.I Independent movies) is his screenwriter friend, who moans about not having written anything in years. He also needs $500 quickly in order to pay off a debt.Well, people start showing up at the cottage, wanting Dr. Horace's services. Conrad gets the idea of how to get that $500 for his friend-and so the former writer/sidekick pretends he's Dr Horace's substitute, 'Dr. Horror'. What he does is make up these horror and sci-fi scenarios and applies them to their sexual situations. The patients are Debbie Rochon, Trent Haaga and Nathan Sears, all of whom are utterly hilarious. I've never seen Debbie in a comedic performance before and she's extremely funny-she should definitely do more comedy. Haaga gets to be a zombie in one skit and a werewolf in another. And then there are the spoofs of the films of Jim Wynorski, Fred Olen Ray and Jay Lind-god, I almost choked to death on my nachos at the Lind segment, mostly because I know Jay. I hadn't laughed that hard at a movie in years. The last third of the movie, co-written with actress Brinke Stevens, is a story concerning the Nathan Sears character and how he meets a queen from an all-female planet. He falls in love with her and is eager to go back to her planet to help re-populate it-but there's also a race of aliens who are all men that want the same thing. When they hear that 6 million of these men will land on the Earth in search of women, the queen says 'Is there room on Earth for six-million overweight, sexually frustrated men?' to which Sears replies 'No, there aren't that many horror conventions!'I've also never seen horror host John Zacherle in anything before-and that was very entertaining. There's this musical number (!) at the beginning of the movie that he's in that's kind of jaw dropping because I just didn't expect that. There's also appearances by Tina Krause (MACHINES OF LOVE AND HATE), Marina Morgan (GENERATION AX), Brinke Stevens and a few others who are slipping my mind at the moment.Get this movie. You will not be disappointed.Available from www.scrabo.com
