This is an interesting take on the H.G. Well's novel, THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU, though it's really much more of a sequel. A boxer is searching for his brother, who disappeared the month before. Helping him is a woman reporter and his brother's bitchy girlfriend. They go to a seedy bar and encounter this strange woman, who kills someone with one punch. They follow her to a secluded, fenced in area-and are all taken captive by these animal creatures. They awaken, face to face with a pig-man, who tells them they are out of luck. It turns out that the pig-man and his friend, a huge creature a cross between a mountain lion and a hyena, are keeping Dr. Moreau prisoner, wanting him to transform them into real human beings. And they're going to use the newly captured humans in the operation.Although there's only four-different manimals they makeup effects by John Carl Beuchler are very effective. These creatures are horrendous. 90% of the movie is interiors but that's what you expect with a low budget. Definitely one of Shadow Entertainment's better movies. Directed by Charles Band.
