The newest Stephen King adaptation, directed by Larry Kasdan, is a recycling of much of that author's work, namely IT and THE BODY (STAND BY ME). The whole secret alien invasion vs. secret government organization idea has also been done a few dozen times. That aside, the movie still wasn't very good.A group of friends, who are all psychic to some extent, rent a cabin to go deer hunting. Unfortunately this is where an alien ship has landed, infecting the animals and people with this red fungus. The fungus causes these eel-like creatures to develop in some-and when they emerge from the body they come out where the sun don't shine. The friends get separated, some get killed, and one even gets possessed by a creature called 'MR GRAY', who is the intelligence behind the aliens. There's also a retarded man, Duddits, who is pivotal to defeating the monster. As I said, the biggest problem I had with this movie is the feeling like I've seen it all before-and I wanted to fast-forward through some parts just to get the movie over with.It was simply boring.
