Surprisingly cool Easter themed slasher flick. Director Chad Ferrin, who recently did that shitty "Someone's Knocking at the Door" pile of fecal cinematic waste, directed "Easter Bunny Kill! Kill!" just a few years prior and wisely synchronized a fairly well-rounded plot line and creepy mood with a holiday that hasn't been particularly handled well throughout the horror genre. "Peter Rottentail"... ick!
A dirt bag robs a convenience store, killing the clerk, and heads over to his girlfriend's house. She's a single mother raising a 16 year-old retarded son who has an obsession with Easter (his daddy "left" on Easter *sniff*). Mommy's boyfriend is a total prick and treats the palsy-consumed child with the utmost of hatred and visa versa. When the mom heads to work the next day, Mr. Stud is left with the kid and decides to throw a party, which consists of a gimped out pedo freak coming over to fuck the kid while some coked up street whores are picked up for a night of fuggin'...
My only big gripe with the film was that I couldn't understand how a mulatto woman and a white man (the kid's real dad) conceived a totally black child. The woman's womb must've been radioactive. Eh, whatever. Otherwise, "Easter Bunny Kill! Kill!" is a considerably well done film with some pretty grisly death scenes and some fairly hard-hitting subject matter. Namely the pedophile scene (I can't shake the sight of him sweating and panting while crutching down the hallway) and the retard abuse, in general. The bunny killer coming in and fuckin' up the house guests was nice and gory. The double "twist" ending was completely out of left field with the homeless man unveiling shamelessly tacked on for no apparent reason, though I found it pretty funny for it's absurdity for the fact that Chad Ferrin obviously sucks at conveying a decent "twist" ending.
"Easter Bunny Kill! Kill!" isn't the conventional slasher shit you'd expect for the most part, but a rather well thought out flick that competently builds the mood, delivers on the bloodshed and whacked-out characters other than just centering around an Easter Bunny killer for the sake of a gimmicky holiday slasher flick.
