Paul Bartel's excellent pitch black comedy about a couple facing financial hardships in a swingin' new world of eroticism full of wife swapping and S & M. Bartel plays the dull hubby and in-her-prime, 40-ish MILF cult treasure Mary Woronov plays the wife. Our heroes decide they want to open a restaurant and the best way to get the money is to knock off the kinky swingers that have invaded their apartment building, who always seem loaded with cash. They up the ante by taking out ads in sex rag classifieds (the Craig's List of yesteryear) to gain more clients. Woronov is as hot as August asphalt in her role, showing off her coned shaped mounts, tall nips, and hot bod in several key scenes that had me drooling like a rabid Cujo. Petty criminal Raoul comes into play when he discovers what the couple is doing and offers to help dispose of the bodies at a local dog food company that will grind them up for canine consumption---and pay them for the meat! Things go awry when Mary hooks up with Raoul, smoking dope and fornicating with him, putting extra stress on the happy marriage that Paul and Mary once had. Will Paul get his wife back? Is Raoul getting too obsessive with Mary, trying to kill off Paul? Will our heroes be able to buy that restaurant? Splendid balance of humor and satire with a dark overtone of horror here. Really shows what you can do with a nonexistent without the use of heavy special effects; good acting and an excellent storyline fill that void. Paced nicely, EATING RAOUL is one of my favorite dark comedies of all time. Check this one out or see it again pronto!
