I don't really classify this as a horror movie but I thought it was worth mentioning because I've briefly reviewed his other work in the genre. By 1990, Vincent Price was 79 years old and suffering from Emphysema and Parkinson's Disease. His role as "The Inventor" was slated to be much bigger but due to his illness he was only able to appear in two scenes. It is a well-known fact that Tim Burton was a fan of Vincent Price, even using him as an inspiration to pay tribute with his 1982 claymation 'Vincent' (this style of animation served as a precursor to The Nightmare Before Christmas). It's difficult to watch Vincent in this movie knowing how sick he was in real life.
I'm a huge fan of Vincent Price. I wish I could say that every movie was fantastic. Sometimes, that isn't up to the actor. He starred in 94 films in his 55-year career, reigning from 1938 to 1993. I only chose to review his 32 horror films - the other 62 consisted of comedies, romance stories, dramas, historical re-tellings, and even a western (which was also superb).
Vincent Price died at the age of 82 on October 25th, 1993 of lung cancer. He was cremated and his ashes were scattered off the Californian coast of Malibu, together with his favorite gardening hat.
