Wow, it's the double-disc set of John Carpenter's classic movie, WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY of the retail price. There's the newly remastered movie with two great commentaries (the most riveting being by John Carpenter and Kurt Russell, of course, there's nothing cooler than inviting these guys into your living room with their fun recollections about making this film!) and an extra disc with tons of extras. There's a new 'making of' featurette with plenty of new interviews with cast and crew, a trailer section with great clips of publicity for the movie, and more! Add to that, a FREE COMIC BOOK (that's expertly drawn) about the further Adventures of Snake Plissken and you have quite a package here. Additionally, there's the much ballyhooed 10 minute opening sequence (which really only runs seven minutes) where Snake is busted for robbing the Federal Reserve Bank finally on display for all to see. While not nearly as exciting as it was hyped to be (and Carpenter was right to cut it---it does give Snake too much unneeded humanity!), it's a fun watch. There's also a commentary track on this lost scene with Carpenter and Russell AND an all new cut of music Carpenter composed specifically for this disc! If you are a die-hard John Carpenter fan or an ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK junkie, this disc is what you've been waiting for. Drop what you're doing and get it now!
