The story continues as Ash has to battle to save his ass and his soul against more hellions with chainsaw in hand, literally. It's almost as good as the first, but this one works more as a comedy of gore than a full-blown scare flick. That fact alone puts it slightly below the first film for me. I like the ferocity of E.D. Dead By Dawn just doesn't go for or have that feel to it. It has its own agenda and works so well that way it really doesn't matter. It IS a worthy sequel folks, comedy and all. Luckily for us fans, Tom Sullivan does way more than he's credited for this one too. The hand and its replacement are classics scenes and this one is riddled with memorable one-liners and catch-phrases we've all used plenty. I guess looking back, the comedy element was a good change since the feel of the first was never going to be equaled anyway. Still, E.D. 2 has plenty of blood and body parts flying from start to finish. Poor Ash gets put through the ringer in this one. Classic stuff folks, but it ain't as good or as legendary as the first. It had big shoes to fill though and came very damn close!
