I don't know about you but I'm getting tired of all these low-budget zombie movies coming out this past year-and FEEDING THE MASSES is one of them. The title refers to the zombies and also to a television station, which is continuing to run its mundane programming, as if the plague of zombies outside its doors isn't happening. I guess the 'biting social commentary' as stated on the DVD box is that people would rather watch television and be told what to think-which is no news and no surprise in a Nation comprised primarily of sheeple. The most interesting character is 'Torch', a jaded cameraman who wants to videotape his equivalent of the Hindenburg going down in flames. There's also a soldier, in charge of guarding the camera crew, who has fallen for the female anchor, a stereotypical blonde bimbo. On his personal time, he rents out a booth to watch a stripper-and as she's undressing the management lets in a zombie, which tears her apart. This is killing is what ultimately gets the soldier off. The zombies' appearance suck-either some gray greasepaint or just a lot of blood and latex splattered on the person. The gunfire from the machine guns as well as anything that explodes is done with computer effects and definitely looks like it.FEEDING THE MASSES is not funny enough to be called a spoof, like SHAUN OF THE DEAD, and not scary enough to be called a horror movie, so it falls somewhere in between. There are some good scenes in the movie but as you watch it you feel as if you're watching a rerun, which FEEDING THE MASSES basically is.Available from E.I.Cinema/Shock-O-Rama
