Sam Raimi's gothic ghost story, featuring Kate Blanchett as a psychic who becomes involved in a murder case, reminded me of an episode of AMERICAN GOTHIC (which Raimi co-produced). In fact, Gary Cole, the star of that show, portrays one of the characters. Although the performances are top-notch and there are some genuinely creepy moments, the 'twist ending' was so predictable it left me rather irritated. If it wasn't for THE SIXTH SENSE this movie probably would not have been made.
