In this prequel, which takes place over a hundred years ago, the two sisters find themselves travelling alone in the wilderness. After they come upon a medicine woman, who warns them that something bad may happen to them, Bridgit (Emily Perkins) gets her foot caught in the teeth of an animal trap. Ginger (Katharine Isabelle) goes for help but not before an indian trapper shows up and helps them. They come upon a nearby fort, which is owned by a trading company, and is inhabited by a group of paranoid survivors. They are under seige by werewolves, who turn out to be what remains of the rescue party sent two months before. The man in charge of the fort is secretly keeping his wolf-transforming son alive, the preacher is insane and has it out for the two sisters, and we're not exactly sure where the Indian warrior stands. Emily is bitten by this little werewolf and starts to transform. The men kick her out of the fort-and when she returns for her sister she brings along the entire wolf pack. And these are some mean looking werewolves. What I like about the GINGER SNAPS movies is that while the theme about the sisters remains the same, they are all very different from one another.
