If you liked the Warwick Davis Leprechaun series, you'll enjoy GNOME ALONE starring Verne Troyer (AUSTIN POWERS franchise). We're presented a rather convoluted back-story of how the creature came to be--he was created by a witch who stole gold from a Leprechaun--and that he follows anyone who has the symbol that was burned into her flesh. In the present day the person with this mark is an old homeless woman. She's befriended by a young woman, Zoe, who piques the Gnome's interest. Zoe lives at home with her mother, who has had way too many face-lifts, and her step-father, who is continually hitting on her. When the old woman gets hit by a car, all of the diminutive monster's attention goes to Zoe--and people associated with her begin to die in horrible ways.
There are lots of gruesome deaths and just as many one-liners. However, I found the special effects lacking, particularly the face prosthetics of the leprechaun and the gnome. Still, it is entertaining in a goofy way and has a very downbeat ending for the main human character, which you don't see that often. Recommended.
