This horror fairy tale begins in a small town in the early 1800's, with the inhabitants making sacrifices to a huge bonfire. One of these sacrifices is a deformed child, who they deem unclean. This ticks off the mother, who turns out to be a witch, and she starts reciting a curse as the baby burns. It starts changing shape and then emerges as a fully-grown computer generated Goblin and proceeds to kill everyone. Then we go to "October, Present Day" and to a family that has moved into the area. This is Neil Perkins (Gil Bellows) and his new wife. He's having problems with his teenaged daughter from his first marriage. There's a crazy old guy who knows about the curse and warns them but by the time they heed him it's too late. The creature kidnaps his new baby and he'll do anything to get the child back.
This Syfy movie isn't one of the worst I've seen but it also isn't one of the best. As
for the creature itself, it looks much better when it's disguised in an old monk-robe and we can only see its eyes and teeth. The computer animated monster is lame.
