A family moves into an old house and start experiencing remnants from its bloody past. Years before an old man killed his wife, then chopped up her body. At first the family starts finding the murder weapons about and see the walls bleed. Then, at the young daughter's birthday party a pipe ruptures and sprays blood over everyone. It seems that everything is escalating-and then they leave. It turns out that the family faked all of this in order to capitalize on selling the book rights. In CHARLIE BOY, a man inherits a carved African fetish statue and unwittingly invokes its power to kill. He tries to stop the curse before all his friends-and his girlfriend-are killed by its evil magic. This story reminded me of that Matheson story from Dan Curtis' TRILOGY OF TERROR, where that statue comes to life and stalks Karen Black. While the statue in CHARLIE BOY doesn't movie about it is extremely malevolent looking-and actually kills more people.
