I can take or leave the whole Harry Potter series, since it's such an amalgamation of previous used ideas that I always feel like I'm watching a rerun. This 6th movie is much darker in tone and addresses that the trio of friends (Harry, Ron and Hermione) is actually getting older and starting to act like teenagers.
Professor Horace Slughorn, a former teacher of Hogwart's who used to have the young Voldemort as a student, is reinstated at the school so that Dumbledore can get some information about that evil one. Dumbledore asks Harry to get close to his new teacher so that he can recover the teacher's memories of that time. And Harry, in Slughorn's potions class, finds a text book of spells that's marked "Property of the Half-Blood Prince". The book has many handwritten spells in it that Harry begins to use.
The crux of the story is that someone wants Dumbledore dead and everything points to Draco Malfoy who has been on Harry's bad side since the beginning. However, it's someone else who does the fatal deed. The biggest surprise is the identity of the Half-Blood Prince, which actually threw me. The movie also ends on a down note, which sets it apart from the previous movies. I didn't find THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE as boring as the previous installments though that's not exactly a recommendation.
