This documentary goes behind the scenes of the Hell House, a multimedia fire-and-brimstone performance designed to give its audiences a glimpse of what awaits those who stray from the path of a strict Christian life. Put on by the youth members of a church outside Dallas, the show draws thousands of visitors each year. The filmmakers follow the rigorous creative process behind the show and paint intimate portraits of many of its key players. -netflix
Let me start by saying... there is nothing scarier than Southern Baptists. Who doesn't love a good haunted house... but one that is designed to scare you into joining the church is downright terrifying. Most haunted houses are designed to give you a good, thrilling scare... but the brainwashed simpletons of this church try to convert through depictions of so-called evil and sin that exists out in the real world. No graveyard scenes, undead hordes or witches brewing potions over a flaming cauldron here... instead they had scenes of drunk driving tragedy, date rape, and things of the sort. Most of the storylines for the haunt themes were a little off and showed just how out of touch with reality these people are.
The documentary followed the players from audition to role preparation to showtime in a non-evasive and informative way. Unlike me, the filmmakers let everything play out without judgment... letting the viewer decide for themselves what they think of the whole rigamaroo. This is a documentary that I would recommend to everyone and you decide who the real zombies are.
