Although based on the same book by Vincent Bugliosi, this is a very different perspective than the previous 1976 movie. Here, the story isn't book-ended by the court-room drama, going back and forth to flashbacks. Instead, it's quite linear, starting from the first murder of the Manson did (a guy who owed Charles money) to the final court judgement. The film also shows us Sharon Tate and her friends, before they are slain, as well as Roman Polanski's reaction against the press for how they are negatively presenting him and his wife in the media.Jeremy Davis (SOLARIS, TEKNOLUST) does a great performance as Charles Manson, though no one can really compare to a crazy-acting Steve Railsback (Manson in the original). Marquerite Moreau (FIRESTARTER: REKINDLED, QUEEN OF THE DAMNED) is creepy as 'Sadie'-she kills with such glee!. The movie never show the crazys chicks with the shaved heads, though, as the movie ends before that scenario.
