Director John McNaughton, inspired by a 20/20 interview with serial killer Henry Lee Lucas, fashioned this nerve-wrackingly intense feature loosely based on the killer back in 1986. Henry, played with understated matter-of-factness by Michael Rooker, is an incredibly likeable and friendly guy who just happens to murder people to vent out his frustrations on society. Moving in with prison pal Otis and his sister Becky, things get a little more complicated and out of control with the arrangements, as one might expect. The sickest thing about this movie is that Henry is so cool when he's not killing that you really like him...and that's the movie's ultimate power, it makes you really feel perverse for doing so! The kill scenes are startlingly powerful, including a home invasion scene that Henry and Otis videotape. Uncompromising, disturbing, and powerful, HENRY must be seen to be believed!
