The story is of a 'typical' Earthman who is saved from the destruction of the planet by his best friend, who happens to be an alien. They hitch a ride on one of the spaceships blowing up the planet and these aliens are not the friendly kind. He eventually ends up on a spaceship with the President of the Universe (the always entertaining Sam Rockwell) and his depressed robot. Also on board is the man's former love interest, who had disappeared some years earlier (she had met the President of the Universe when he was visiting Earth and decided to go back to space with him). They go in search of a massive computer that has the age old answer to the question of 'Why?' and the guy ends up finding why Earth was blown up in the first place. When I was watching this movie I kept on thinking, 'MONTY PYTHON', though none of the scenes were all that funny. This adaptation of the Douglas Adams book is also not very memorable. In fact, I watched this movie a month ago and just now remembered to review it...
