The underwhelming Dennis Quaid (PANDORUM) portrays a detective, Aiden Breslin, who lost his wife to cancer several years ago. Ever since then he's been distant to his two young sons. In fact, the older boy is pretty much raising the younger one in his father's absence. As you guessed it, the father is a workaholic. This time, though, he's assigned a particularly gruesome case in which the murders are tied to the bible's Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. And there's also a website that may be responsible. One of the best scenes involves one of the killers forcing his homophobic brother to watch his brutal suicide. And there's a creepy performance by Ziyi Zhang as murdereress Kristin Spitz, who keeps an aborted baby in a zip lock bag. While some of the visuals are gory the story and (over)acting is lackluster. I knew what was going to happen every step of the way.
