Dracula (John Carradine), aka Baron Latos, goes to the castle of Dr. Edelman (Onslow Stevens), telling him that he wants to find a cure for his vampirism. Edelman believes him and begins to work on a cure, which involves getting blood transfusions. Around the same time Lawrence Talbot (Lon Chaney, Jr) also approaches the doctor for a cure for his werewolfism. The doctor tells him that through the extract of a rare plant, he can relieve the pressure on his brain that is causing his hairy problem. When he realizes that the process won't be soon enough before the next full moon, he tries to commit suicide by jumping off a nearby ocean cliff. Instead, he's swept to the caves below, where he and Edelman coincidentely come upon the Frankenstein Monster, who is still clutching the skeleton of Dr. Neidmann (Boris Karloff).
Things soon get out of control when, during one of the blood transfusions Dracula awakens first and reverses the flow of blood, so that the doctor gets contaminated from his vampire blood. This has a Jeckyll & Hyde effect upon him, so he becomes an evil mad scientist, intent on bringing the Frankenstein Monster to life.
Although it is never explained how Dracula has come back to life since HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, this is a good continuation to the story. In the end, Lawrence Talbot is cured of his werewolf curse.
