This remake comes off fairly decent, but relies a little to heavily on computer FX. The plot follows closely with the original, but with a more modern, diverse group of guests this time around. This house has some truly restless dead and effectively showcases the plight of both the host and the doomed visitors locked inside. As far as the new remake type films go, this shit surpasses The Haunting and Psycho easily, that not being any huge accomplishment. The pace and decadence of this House on Haunted Hill make it memorable and worth watching, thought it lacks the fun and charm of the original classic. It's tough to remake a classic. This attempt succeeded more than it failed. Wouldn't it be nice though if Hollywood could make something new and stop rehashing the past? You'll never recapture the magic of something again.
