After a 31 year absence the BTK (stands for bind them, tie them, kill them) Killer makes himself known after he sees a book author on a talk show, a writer who has written a book about the BTK Killer. He starts sending letters to the local police department in Wichita, Kansas, who had never been able to catch him. The detective in charge of the investigation (Robert Forster) is very frustrated, as there are no clues to who he is. This detective was also a witness, as a rookie, to the killers' aftermath. The viewer is shown scenes of the serial killer's domestic life and how unobtrusive this guy is. Even his wife doesn't suspect he'd be capable of such things. Actor Gregg Henry (SLITHER) does a great job as Dennis Rader (The BTK Killer), one of the better serial killer depictions in made-for-tv movies. The one thing I did find irritating about the movie, however, are the voice-overs of the detective, who goes on and on about "how can they ever feel safe?", "how can anyone be like this killer?", "Who can we trust?" et cetera.
