The first ten minutes of this latest Frankenstein film recaps the story from the original novel, with Dr. Frankenstein rejecting his creation, the monster (Aaron Eckhert) killing the Doctor's wife, and being pursued into the arctic, where he survived. Then, it delves into new territory when he brings his creator's body back the Europe and buries him in a graveyard. It's here that he's attacked by demons and rescued by Gargoyles, these beings that are human looking but can transform into stone flying monsters. The Gargoyles work for the Angels, so they are the good guys. The demons are led by Naberius (Bill Nighy of the UNDERWORLD movies). And the Gargoyles want "Adam", Frankenstein's Monster, to help them in their battle. He declines. Years go by and Adam looks like a scarred war Vet. When he meets the winged avengers again he ends up fighting with them.
Although the special effects are great I had a hard time getting involved with this movie. I wanted a Frankenstein flick and this is anything but.
