Just when you think you've seen every variation of the 'killer animal on the loose' movie along comes this movie, which has killer trilobites. Yes, trilobites, those small prehistoric creatures that look like horseshoe crabs. Only here they're much bigger. It's the usual scenario-a bunch of college aged kids trapped in a secluded area (an Arctic research station this time around), killed off one by one. One couple is killed right after they have sex, one person in a shower, et cetera. There's even the evil bad guy who is working for the 'corporation' and is willing to make everyone expendable. The screenplay is a bit sloppy-at one point the scientist says they trilobites died off ten thousand years ago, then in another scene says ten million years ago-and then one hundred million years ago. They probably should have checked their facts. The effects are adequate until we see the gigantic trilobite at the end, which looks way too much like a puppet on a miniature set. Directed by John Carl Buechler.
