It's a few years after "The Rising", a time in which the dead reanimated. The government, in order to deal with this unusual problem--and the abundance of zombies, have rehabilitated the undead back into normal society. One of these undead is Kieren Walker (Luke Newberry of FRANKENSTEIN'S ARMY), who returns to live with his family. He's given contacts and a flesh-colored makeup kit to make himself look normal, since zombies are deathly pale an have white eyes. He also has to get regular injections, which suppresses his urge to kill and eat flesh. A lot of people are made nervous by him living amongst them. We discover that Kieren had killed himself because he was rejected by the man he was in love with. This guy, who was killed in the Army overseas, comes back to town and tries to re-acclimate as well, though makeup can't cover up his massive facial scars. The army guy's father hates the undead and unlawfully kills some--but overlooks his son's condition. And there is a cult some of the zombies are joining in which they want to be man-eating creatures. Things do not end well, though some characters do get what they deserve.
The horror genre has been glutted with countless zombie movies the past decade. This UK Television series is a zombie story that actually stands out as unique. Highly recommended.
