Surprisingly, I found this movie a bit long and boring. The premise is that it's possible to enter a person's dream state and steal information from their minds. Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is an expert at this, though he's haunted by the death of his wife, Mal, which tends to interfere with his job. She keeps on showing up in the various dreams and not in a good way. Cobb is a fugitive from the United States because they believe he murdered his wife. And because of this he can't see his two young children. But a job comes along that may allow him back in the country. Instead of stealing an idea from someone's mind they are hired to plant an idea in the mind of a business man, Robert Fischer (Cillian Murphy of 28 DAYS LATER). His company may control more than half the world's energy and his competitor wants to stop this. The newest member of the team is Ariadne (Ellen Page), who is very adept at manipulating the dreamscape. The scenarios get complicated, especially the dream within the dream within the dream sequences, which all have their own rules.
INCEPTION reminds me of a cross between OCEAN'S 11 and DREAMSCAPE, only without any humor whatsoever. Sure, the visuals and action are great but I didn't care about any of the characters. And as far as any sort of payoff, it's all a dream so it really doesn't matter. It's not real. I was not that impressed.
