There is an alien invasion and it's happening through bottled water.
As a new virus, called "The Boston Plague" ravages that city, the mayor is shot dead by a desperate man who insists that there is a conspiracy involving a company called Hydropure. The killer gives reporter named Ben (Gil Bellows) a vial containing some of the mayor's blood. But it's not normal human blood. And so he must uncover the plot.
Ben's ex-girlfriend Lisa also works at the city's newspaper and she agrees to help him. However, their boss (Isabella Rossellini) might be a part of it, which is confirmed when she sprouts these huge alien arms from her torso and tries to kill them.
It turns out that the aliens have been here for a while and are using Hydropure to change people's body chemistries so they'll be perfect hosts to incubate their larval young. The Boston Plague was just an unfortunate side effect.
While INFECTED does have the feel of a SCI-FI CHANNEL movie of the week about it, it's far better than those inferior productions.
