Cooper is a slacker who just got fired from his boring office job. He awakens to find himself wrapped up in a cocoon. In fact, everyone else there in the office is under wraps. And it's three days later. He wakes up a few of them, including his former boss who is concerned about her daughter, Sara (Brooke Nevin). She was supposed to pick her up from work three days ago. They go outside and find her in her car, cocooned. While he's unwrapping her a giant flying insect swoops down and carries off the screaming boss/mother.
The group of survivors from the office head out of the city, which is deserted. They have to walk because the insects are blind and navigate by sound--and cars make too much noise. Cooper, of course, is interested in Sara, but she doesn't want anything to do with him. But a blonde television weather woman that joins the group wants him all to herself but he's not interested in her. She even comes on to him buck naked in one scene. He pushes her away, which I honestly didn't think was a plausible situation.
They eventually make their way to Cooper's fathers (Ray Wise of REAPER) house. He's alive and wants to kick some giant insect butt. He was military so he not only has a bomb shelter under the house but tons of weapons. When Sara is captured by the insects and taken to their hive, which is this huge pocked meteor that had crashed the country, Cooper wants to rescue her.
INFESTATION has some great special effects, especially these half human/zombie/insects that are used as slave labor. There's even a hybrid poodle! While not as funny as such recent movies as ZOMBIE LAND it's definitely along the same lines. And, of course, Ray Wise (TWIN PEAKS) is hilarious. Recommended.
