This is a surprisingly well-done killer bug movie, a cross between THE BIG CHILL and INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS. I am not kidding!A group of Yuppies are reunited at their friends funeral, a guy who supposedly killed himself. Then, they all decide to stay together for a weekend and one of their big houses. This includes the deceased's young girlfriend (Amy Jo Johnson), who seems the most level headed of them all.At first one of the women is taken over while sunbathing on the beach. She quickly infects one of the guys, who has hopes of hooking up with her despite the fact that his wife is waiting back at the house for him. When his wife does come to great him he starts strangling her. The others go out to help and end up almost beheading him. Yet he is still moving about-in fact, he grabs his own dangling head and rips it off so it won't get in the way.Of course, all the others are freaked out. From here on it's the NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD scenario, as these insect possessed people try to infect the others. They eventually realize that the bugs (which look like flies) will disintegrate in light-and that's the reason they are inside the people, controlling them. It's dark inside a body.Eventually only the young woman and one of the guys survive-and he's nearly overdosed on Ecstacy, which has him thinking about other things than survival. She slaps him and tells him maybe they can get a coffee afterwards, if they survive. The ending is surprising-explaining what the bugs are, why they are after this group of people. INFESTED is a sarcastic yet effective horror movie.
